Description

Dartford’s Central Park is alive with old (maybe ancient) trees. My painting of an old Wych Elm tree captures a ‘portrait’ of one of the old trees.

In the painting, I have created more than a visual representation; a collective tribute to nature’s enduring beauty. I hope the artwork inspires reflection, inviting viewers to reconnect with the natural world and appreciate its silent wonders.

The painting serves as both a celebration and a reminder—of the importance of preserving such spaces, and of the power of art to bridge the gap between humanity and the environment. The painting of the old Wych Elm tree becomes a symbol of resilience and grace, a beacon that encourages us all to cherish the surrounding beauty.

The artwork invites viewers to linger, to contemplate their own memories tied to nature’s embrace. It stirs nostalgia for moments of quietude in the park—a sense of belonging to something greater than oneself. The tree stands as a reminder of our shared bond with the natural world and the stories etched into its very essence.

You can read more about the Wych Elm on the Woodland Trust’s website.
